How to create content for Groups, Networks, Ministries and States
Each Network, Ministry and State is a group in the Drupal system. State based networks and ministries may be a sub group of the relevant State group.
Each group has at least one of more managers. A manager has the most access for a group – thay can add and delete content etc.
To add content to a group you must be a member of that group, and only managers may be able to add, edit or delete some types of content. If you believe you need additional access, then contact the manager of that group. If want to join a group then see the article on Joining A Group.
The best way to create group content is from within the context of a group. So, assuming that you are logged in as a user able to crate content for a group, find the group in the States, Ministries and Networks menu hierarchy, or see the Groups listing in the second menu on the left, Under your login name.
Once you are in the context of the group for which you want to add content, you will see a menu on the top left similar to the one in the next screenshot. It will have a heading of name of your group. From there you can create various types of content.
You may see some of these content types. Here is a brief explanation.
For any content type you can click on the groups tab and make that content Public – ie it will appear on the main MI web site.
You can also set a category, so that it will be visible categories.
Story
The story content type is the one you will use most commonly. It is for articles and stories that can appear on the groups main page, and the sites front page. It can be used for announcements as well.
Page
A page is a single page content type, just like a web page. Normally you would not use this content type for articles etc. Use Story instead.
Event
An event is an item that will appear in the groups calendar, and potentially the sites calendar. You can set start and end dates and times for the event.
Blog
This is the content type for blogging. Basically you can put some text content up, with photos etc, and blog messages will appear in order.
Forum topic
This is where you can setup a new topic for the groups forum for discussion. Others can then respond to this topic.
Image
This is where you can upload an image, although this is usually done as part of creating a story etc.
Private Story
A story content which is only visible to people who have logged into the site using a login and password (aka an authenticated user).
